Renting a Bike – How does it work?

Renting a Bike is the same as renting a car. Select the bike you want, choose the dates, pick a size and agree to the terms and conditions and then hit the ‘Book’ button. This will add the bike rental to your Shopping Cart.
Choose any accessories you want fitted to the bike, and include Damage and Theft Waiver Fees if required. Add them to your Cart as well.
If you want your bike delivered to – or picked up from – your accomodation, add those delivery options.
Once you’re finished, use your credit card to pay for your cart, and you’ll be emailed a confirmation. We’ll contact you by email to sort out any details.

Can you deliver the bikes to me?

We sure can!
If you want your bike delivered to – or picked up from – your accomodation, add those delivery options in your shopping cart.
We’ll bring the bikes to you at your accomodation, and if you’re staying at one of our accomodation partners, the bikes will be delivered before you arrive – ready for you to begin exploring.

Damage and Theft Waiver Fees – How do they work?

As with hiring a car, there is no insurance coverage on the bike you hire – you’re responsible for damage and theft during the rental period. This includes any accessories fitted to the bike when you hire it.
Each bike has a repacement value, and it’s noted in the rental listing and on the Hire Schedule. In the event of theft or a write-off through damage, this is the amount you’re liable for.
By paying the Theft Waiver Fee, you reduce this liability to a lesser amount.
By paying the Damage Waiver Fee, you reduce this liability to a specified maximum.

It’s not insurance, but an agreement between you and HVBR that your liability is decreased if something goes wrong.

Do the Damage and Theft Waiver Fees apply even if I don’t take good care of the bike?

No.
Under the Rental Agreement, you must take good care of the bike and accessories, and secure it against theft. The specifics are in section 6 and 7 of the agreement, you can find them here.
For example, if you leave the bike against a tree and go have lunch and the bike is gone when you come back, then the waiver won’t apply. If you locked it securely and kept it in sight, then the waiver would apply.
If you left the bikes outside at night, they won’t be covered – bring them inside! Your accomodation will have a secure location for your property, but we recommend keeping the bikes in your room.
